Do you or your loved ones suffer from pain caused by cancer that has spread to the bones?

If radiation therapy does not work for you, ExAblate, a brand new technology which combines Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) guidance and high intensity focused ultrasound, may be an effective alternative for pain palliation of bone metastases.

 

Among all the pains caused by diseases, the pain caused by cancer is the most difficult to be managed, especially the pain caused by bone metastasis which is so unbearable as if there were a knife sticking in the body. Almost no single treatment can result in quick and effective pain palliation. In general, treatment for pain caused by cancer is done in the following two ways:

 

1.  For the disease itself, to use medical treatments such as chemotherapy/radiotherapy or surgery to kill cancer cells to achieve the goal of having the tumor under control; and

2. For occurrence of pain, to use treatments such as painkillers/palliative medicine or neurosurgery to control the feelings of pain to achieve the goal of pain palliation.
